Being Eventful
Upcoming Events
Join us for our monthly "Bite Size Business Soiree," a one of a kind event that empowers actors to take back control of their careers. The soiree starts with a pay-what-you-can seminar, and ends with a fun networking event- see below for details and to RSVP (PS: These events are best experienced with a friend!) Part One: Topic- Using the INTERNET to Your Advantage Location:
6:30-7:45pm Led by Erin Cronican (Founder of The Actors' Enterprise) you will learn the ins, outs and nuances of Self-Promotion via INTERNET: How to you build a lasting web presence? What free services are available to help promote your work? What are the do's and don't's of online submissions? Fees are donation-based (a $10 contribution towards room costs is appreciated.) But participants on tight budgets may contribute whatever they can -- which means everyone is welcome, regardless of income or ability to pay! Part Two: Networking Soiree Location:
8:00-9:30pm Then, hop on over to the spacious Marriott Marquis Lounge where you can get to know your fellow artist. NETWORKING does not just mean "meet & greets" with agents and casting directors... Networking means building relationships with ANY industry member, and your mutual relationship can help to advance both careers in the long run! All actors, directors, playwrights, designers, casting directors, agents and producers are welcome! Bring your business cards and be ready to walk away with valuable contacts! (Food and drinks available for purchase.) Reservations Required: Call 917-574-0417 or email erin@theactorsenterprise.org. |

Events in Pre-Planning We are in discussion to co-sponsor a few workshops for actors in the coming months: Headshot/Resume Workshop: Coming in May, this workshop is co-hosted by Barry Morganstein Photography to help demystify the process of creating a great headshot / resume package. Legal Workshops: These workshops will help actors understand what their rights and responsibilities are as employees and independent contractors. Tentatively scheduled this spring. Tax Workshop: This workshop will focus on how actors should organize themselves to get the most out of their taxes in 2008. Audition Master Class: This multi-week workshop allows actors to develop 4-6 audition monologues that are hand-selected based on their "type." Actors will also learn how to determine their "package" and how to market that package to agents, casting directors and producers.
